Two middle-aged men stuck in ice cover were rescued by the Border Guard and the rescue department in Espoo.
The men of foreign origin who had gone fishing in the Kivenlahti managed to return from the sea without help, but they were exhausted upon reaching the ice-covered surface.
The rescue department’s surface rescuers and border guard’s helicopter split the rescue mission at the same time and were able to bring the men to safety.
One man was carried by the helicopter and the other one was brought to the beach across the ice-covered surface.
