Prime Minister Alexander Stubb has categorically dismissed the Estonian proposal of armed assistance to Ukraine.

The premier stressed that a military conflict should be avoided until the end.

Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves is said to support armed assistance to Ukraine because without lethal assistance, Ukraine would not be able to repel the separatists.

According to Stubb, Ukraine can be provided with financial assistance from the EU or through the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The main way to resolve the situation, according to Stubb, remains sanctions which will be decided together by EU member states.
