At least 17 people were killed and 444 others injured in 344 road accidents in the country in January, according to preliminary data of Statistics Finland.   

The number of deaths in road mishaps in January was 3 higher compared to the number of the stipulated period in 2014.

Of the persons killed, 11 travelled by passenger car and one by van. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered four.

In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, nine were men and eight were women as per the statistics
