The police officer detained in suspicion of bribery might have been taken 10 thousands of euros as well as transfer of assets, said Jukka Haavisto, the prosecutor leading the investigations.

The officer who served in the Bear Squad, a special operations and counter-terrorism unit of Helsinki Police, is currently in detention for aggravated acceptance of bribery and aggravated abuse of public office.

The District Court of Helsinki on Tuesday ruled the extension of the officer’s detention.

The court also extended the detention of the other suspect in the case, a company officer under suspicion of aggravated bribery.

The suspect represents a company which, among other things, delivered equipments and armoured cars to the special operations unit.

The investigation is also meant to establish whether the police were unable to act when the procurement was made.

The crime suspicions date back from 2005 to 2012.

The police officer and the company official were arrested in mid February this year.

Both suspects have denied the allegations.
