The police suspect that the management of now defunct Air Finland illegally withdrew money from the company before it was declared bankrupt, reported national broadcaster YLE.

According to YLE report, the board and the Chief Executive Officer of the defunct airline are suspected of financial crimes.

In total, six people are suspected of the crimes, but all of them have denied the allegations.

YLE reported that the CEO of the airlines and the board through different arrangements withdrew nearly 5 million euros from the company.

Furthermore, the police suspect that the company's account was deliberately altered to give a false picture of the company's financial situation.

According to Air Finland’s former CEO Mika Helenius, the allegations surrounding the withdrawals are related to dividend and capital repayments made in 2007 and 2008.

Air Finland's business operations at that time according to Helenius were profitable and were solvent.

Air Finland was declared bankrupt in the summer of 2012.
