Member of European Parliament Olli Rehn on Wednesday criticised the European Commission Representation in the country, one of the organisers of a panel discussion, for coming short in internal politics.

Rehn walked out of a panel test in protest. The Finnish MEP was representing Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) Chair Juha Sipilä in the discussion.

Rehn told the news agency STT that Sipilä unfortunately was unable to attend the event, because the organisers had failed to accord sufficient flexibility.

“The timetable was built rather more around the current prime minister than according to the incoming prime minister,” said Rehn, adding that he was disappointed that the European Commission Representation in Finland came short in internal political in this regard.

“Because I was given the floor one hour after the discussion had started, contrary to what had been agreed, I do not intend to stay and listen to the students. I have heard these jokes too many times before,” said Rehn.
