FTimes - Xinhua Report, April 8

One of the two people, who were killed in a head-on collision in the Pirkanmaa region of Hämeenkyrö on Monday night, was suspected of intentional killing, media reported on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at the national road 3 south of Hämeenkyrö at around 8:30 pm.

A man who was driving one of the cars involved in the accident and a woman who was riding in the opposite car died in the accident.

About 30 minutes before the collision, police were informed of a violence in an apartment in Ylojarvi, between Hämeenkyrö and Tampere. A woman was stabbed several times but was not in danger.

The stabber was a 51-year-old man and the victim was his ex-wife, according to local media.

After stabbing, the suspect stole the victim's car and drove from southeast to northwest towards the direction of Hämeenkyrö. A police patrol positioned the stolen car and followed it.

The suspect sped up to about 150 km/hour, drove onto the oncoming lane and collided head-on with another car coming from the opposite direction.

The man driving the stolen car and a female passenger in the other car died in the accident. The other driver was injured and sent to hospital.

The man was suspected of attempted manslaughter, reckless endangerment and intentional homicide.

Further investigation was needed to find if the suspect had taken drugs or alcohol, said the police.
