The trial of a male nurse suspected of killing an elderly woman began in the District Court of Southwest Finland in Salo on Wednesday.
 
The man who is also suspected of working as an imposter nurse appeared before the court to answer attempted murder charges. The man's defence held that he had by no means wished for the death of the woman.
 
The prosecutor called for a life imprisonment sentence to be handed to the man for murder and also for three attempted murder charges.
 
The 84-year old woman passed away last year.
 
According to the document instituting the proceedings, the man had firmly premeditated the killing of the 84-year old woman by giving her medication which was not prescribed by the doctor.
 
According to the prosecutor, the man knew that the medication he gave posed danger to the woman's life and also the dose administered was too high.
 
The motivation of the accused man was related to economic difficulties, said the prosecution.
 
According to the document, the man and the elderly woman care relationship was terminated due to uncertainty. However, the man continued to keep in touch with the elderly woman and made visits to her room.
 
He had the right to access the woman's bank account and wanted to profit from the woman's will.
 
According to the prosecutor, the suspect wanted the woman to die so that he can transfer her property and cover the bank transfer transaction.
 
The man is charged by the district court for forgery and illegal practice in the health care profession.
 
The suspect's spouse is also facing property crime charges to some which she had admitted.
