The Parliament on Friday decided to cancel a seminar in which Swedish artist Lars Vilks, known for his drawings of the prophet Muhammad, was supposed to participate.

The cancellation was made due to a threat assessment conducted by the Security Intelligence Police of Finland (Supo) and the fact that the event is not related to parliamentary activities, said the parliament in a press release.

Born in 1946 in Helsingborg, Sweden, Lars Vilks is a cartoonist and activist who is well-known for his drawings of Muhammad. Accused of "insulting Islam," he was included in Al Qaeda's hit list and has survived at least two failed assassination attempts to date.

Vilks was reported to have been a target of the Copenhagen attacks in February which resulted in two deaths.
