Sun, 12 Apr, 2015 12:06:11 AM FTimes – STT Report, April 12 File Photo – AFP / Lehtikuva. Many Finns are uncertain about their position concerning NATO membership, according to a survey by The Finnish Reservists’ Association (FRA).
The survey carried out in March found 28 per cent of the respondents support joining NATO, 40 per cent are in opposition and 32 per cent not able to say whether they support joining the military alliance or not.
According to the association, it seems the number of people opposed to NATO membership has dropped, while the number of those uncertain has increased.
For instance, a survey conducted last October by the Advisory Board For Defence Information (ABDI) found 60 per cent of respondents were opposed to joining NATO.
The huge difference could, however, be explained by the different research methods used.
On the other hand, the support for joining NATO does not seem to have increased compared to the previous survey.
According to the survey, more women are opposed to joining NATO compared to men.
