Two candidates with immigrant background won in the parliamentary polls this year.

Razmyar was elected on a Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) ticket while Ozan Yanar vied as a Vihreä Liitto (Green League) candidate in the elections held on Sunday.

Both of them were candidates in the electoral district of Helsinki.

After the election results, Razmyar said she wants to play an active role in all affairs of importance to the whole country.

She said after four years many people who think she is representing the interests of immigrants only will come to realise that that is not the case.

“All these issues affect us all equally, when we speak about employment, education and the economy, added Razmyar.
