Number of offences declined by 6.8 per cent in January to March 2015 compared to the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland's preliminary data.
 
A total of 88,800 offences were recorded by the police, customs and border guard from January to March 2015, which is 6,500 cases fewer than in the corresponding period of one year earlier.
 
The number of property offences recorded was 49,200, which was 10.0 per cent down from the first quarter of 2014.
 
The recorded number of crimes against life and health was 7,700, which is nearly 600 cases lower than in the early part of 2014, the statistics show.
 
In addition, 105,000 cases of endangerment of traffic safety and traffic infractions were registered.
 
During January to March 2013, a total of 6,200 frauds were recorded, which was 2.4 per cent down from the year before. The number of frauds has grown considerably in the 2000s. In 2000, their recorded number was 3,000 during January to March.
 
In January to March 2015, a total of 300 aggravated frauds were recorded, which is 10.3 per cent less than one year earlier.
 
During January to March 2015, means of payment frauds numbered 1,770, which is 60 cases fewer than in the previous year.
 
The recorded number of aggravated means of payment frauds was 47. Last year the figure was 33.
 
Altogether, 400 robberies were reported, which was 11.0 per cent more than in January to March 2014 but fewer than in the early 2000s.
 
During the first quarter of 2015, a total of 28,200 theft offences were reported, which was 2,000 cases fewer (6.7 per cent) than in 2014.
 
The number of break-ins into houses recorded was 1,200, which was 12.5 per cent lower than in January to March 2014.
 
In January to March 2015, altogether 8,000 damages to property were recorded, which was 24.1 per cent lower than the year before, when the number recorded was exceptionally high.  
 
The number of assault offences recorded was 7,300 during the first quarter of 2015, which is 6.4 per cent lower than in January to March 2014.
 
Over the past ten years, 7,600 assault offences, on average, have been reported in January to March period, the data show.
 
The number of rapes recorded was 250, against 220 one year earlier.
 
Over the past ten years, the average number of rapes has been 185 in the January to March period.
 
The recorded number of sexual exploitations of a child was 340, which was 14.5 per cent fewer than in the corresponding period of the year before.
 
A total of 3,800 drunken driving cases were reported in the first quarter of 2015, which is 2.8 per cent more than in 2014.
 
Over the last ten years in the January to March period, 4,600 cases of drunken driving were recorded, on average.
 
The number of narcotics offences recorded was 5,600, which was up by 10.6 per cent from the year before.
