The District Court of Central Finland on Thursday sentenced an employee of Äänekosken Energia to a year and three months of conditional imprisonment for aggravated embezzlement.
The convict was also ordered by the court to carry out 30 hours of community service.
The convict was found guilty of transferring funds amounting to 200,000 euros from the company’s account to the energy industry clerical employees’ union – EATL ry – and from there to a personal account.
The fraud took place between 2003 and 2014.
Furthermore, the convict was found guilty of embezzling slightly less than 5,000 euros from EATL.
The convict was further ordered to compensate the two injured parties with penal interests on arrears.
Äänekosken Energia is an energy company owned by the City of Äänekoski.
