Sipilä said the planned 200 million euro cuts in earnings-related unemployment benefit will still not be implemented in 2016. The labour market organisations and the tripartite government on Monday agreed that the reform of the unemployment benefit should not be implemented until the beginning of 2016. Sipilä, however, told MTV that the government intends to stick by the timeframe of the so-called social contract. According to Sipilä, decision-making in principle will be done in early autumn. The contract negotiations will take place next year, and the impact of employment and productivity should be visible in March 2017. Conditional measures which entail additional cuts and tax cuts will be implemented in 2018, MTV reported.
