Firearms must in the future be kept in a way that the firearm or part of the firearm is safely stored in a locked place.

The new legislative provisions on the shooting range laws and firearm storage will come into force in December.

If a licensee firearm carrier has more than five firearms in possession, they have to be stored in a safe closet or approved storage facilities at the police department. The acquisition of the safe cabinet has a five-year transition period.

The establishment and maintenance of ordinary shooting ranges will in the future become subject to licencing.

The so-called low shooting ranges, where up to 10,000 rounds of shots are fire every year, could in the future be set up by a mere declaration.

Following the change in the legislation, the shooting ranges must comply with ordinance established.

The goal of the amendments is to improve the firearm safety as well as the safety of the shooting ranges.
