The Deputy Parliamentary Ombudsman Jussi Pajuoja on Friday said the search made at the home of the parents of Jari Aarnio lacked sufficient grounds.

He, however, termed the search conducted at the home of the son of detained former Chief of Helsinki drug unit police Aarnio as justified.

In the case of the search conducted at the home of Aarnio’s parents, the investigation put much stress on his parents at the expense of the peace at their home.

"I think it is very natural that Aarnio frequented his 86-year-old parents home during the course of events. In principle such visits could not be presumed to be crime related motives," Pajuoja said.

The former head of Helsinki police drug unit is under investigation for alleged involvement in a number of crimes. He has been in pre-trial detention since November 2013.
