Half of Finns oppose an extension of weekly working hours, according to a poll commissioned by a Finnish language daily Helsingin Sanomat.
Of the respondents, 43 per cent, in turn, endorsed the proposal.
Among other things, respondents’ age corresponded with their attitudes toward work hours.
A majority of those over 60 supported an extension of the work week, while the youngest respondents considered the idea negatively.
The survey also gauged Finnish perceptions about shortening the period of unemployment benefits.
About a thousand people responded to the TNS Gallup survey about topical social issues. The margin of error is three percentage points in either direction.
