A teenage boy was sentenced to conditional imprisonment for a burglary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Helsinki.

He was sentenced to 60 days’ conditional imprisonment. In addition, they were sentenced to pay almost 1,500 euros for lost goods.

The sentence comes from breach of the peace, theft, and possession of a knife. The Court of Appeal did not grant a reduction in the sentence or compensation.

The boy along with another teenage boy – 14 and 15 years old – sneaked into the office building and took away valuables and cash in January 2014.

They broke into the communication and cultural department of the ministry through the roof by bringing down a wall.

They broke into the department twice during the evening and the night to steal, among other things, taxi cards, cell phones, alcohol, candy, money and cameras.

A part of the thousands of euros stolen have yet to be recovered.
