Finland is ready to participate in sharing of asylum seekers between the European Union member states.
 
The decision was reached by the Cabinet Committee on European Union Affairs on Wednesday.
 
Three Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) members who took part in the committee meeting opposed the decision.
 
Foreign Affairs Minister Timo Soini, Minister of Justice and Employment Jari Lindströmand and Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö announced their rejection of internal transfers of asylum seekers in the EU.
 
The European Commission has urged member states to share the burden of asylum seekers in the EU.
