"I expected less than a dozen people, but we had almost 300 show up. Of course I'm tired, but I'm happy and extremely grateful," said event organizer Tarja Pölkki Saturday evening.
According to Pölkki, rain poured over the event, but the mood was high. She believed that the best part of the event was the intimacy.
"Everything was so homemade. The procession left from the ice-cream kiosk at the same time (the Seta-organized Pride parade left Senaatintori in Helsinki}. For the speech, I used an old fire brigade megaphone," Pölkki said adding that she has received encouraging phone calls from all over Finland.
"People have said that when you have courage, so do we."
