Russia will not completely boycott the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) meeting scheduled for July 5 to 9 in Helsinki.

Earlier, the speaker of the lower house of Russian parliament, Sergei Naryshkin, said Russia will not send a delegation to the OSCE meeting.

Naryshkin also said the Russian delegation will attend the next OSCE session which will be held in the Mongolian capital, Ulan Bator.

But the president of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Ilkka Kanerva, on Thursday confirmed that Nikolai Kovalev, a member of the State Duma, is the only Russian who will
participate in the OSCE Parliamentary Meeting in Helsinki.

President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Pesko had earlier referred to Finland’s decision to decline short-term waiver on an EU travel ban to the chairman of Russian
State Duma scandalous.

The waiver would have exempted Sergei Naryshkin from an EU travel ban to attend the OSCE meeting.

The Russian foreign ministry once again criticised Finland’s decision, when Finnish Ambassador in Moscow Hannu Himanen was summoned on Wednesday.
