The naval vessel docked at the Jätkäsaari new berth within the expanded area of West Harbour.
A public event has not been arranged for the vessel, but the naval destroyer can be viewed from the tip of Hernesaari.
The 160 metres long ship carries a crew of 380 men.
The destroyer is named after Corporal Jason Dunham who died in Iraqi war at the age of 22 in 2004.
Dunham is reputed to have thrown himself on a grenade to save his comrades.
Dunham was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest military honour in the US.
