The police found a copying device and a camera on the vending machine

“According to the customer, it was difficult to enter the card into the machine,” said lead investigator, Sakari Tuominen.

According to Tuominen, the copying happens when the device on the machine’s mouth slot copies the magnetic strip data while, concurrently, the camera above the keys captures the pin numbers entered. When the two segments of information are combined, a criminal may use the card.

A person should suspend the use of the card and, if necessary, report the matter to the police, in case one falls victim to the scam.
