“Greece’s own proposals were inadequate and offered no basis for negotiations.It has been well considered that a better option was to provide a temporary separation for the Greek euro,” said Stubb in his blog, adding, “specifically that alternative is one in which Finland has never driven alone.”

Finland was in close contact with other euro countries, said Stubb, and that he had been provided with information on the position of the eurogroup members.

According to Stubb, regardless of the tight position of Finland’s policy, the fact has always been that Finland was committed to the promotion of the euro area stability. 

The finance minister took to his blog to discuss the reticence of Greece during the preparations for last weekend’s EU summit.

“When the negotiations for the support programme as requested by Greece go forward, Finland’s opinions on the matter will be published,”Stubb said.
