A least 17 people were killed and 579 others injured in as many as 457 road traffic accidents in June, 2015, according to preliminary data of Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 33 higher than in June 2014.
Of the persons killed, 11 travelled by passenger car and two by van. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two.
In addition, two other road users were killed. Among those who died, 13 were men and four were women, the data show.
A total of 2,149 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to June period, killing 114 persons and injuring 2,709 others.
The number of casualty was 19 higher and that of persons injured 113 lower than in the corresponding period of 2014.
