Several police officers from Oulu Police Department are suspected of unauthorised use of police records, reported Oulu-based newspaper Kaleva.
 
The suspicion relates to the use of records by the suspected police officers on what is said to be of no concern to police work.
 
The exact number of officers suspected has not been established.
 
According to the deputy police boss of Oulu Police Department, Arto Karnaranta who was interviewed by the newspaper, similar registry abuse cases in the criminal code are usually personal registry offence and breach of public duty offence.
 
The investigation will be spearheaded by the prosecutor's office since the criminal suspicions targets the police.
 
In this case, the investigation will be headed by the Eastern Finland public prosecutor’s office.
