A female passenger was killed when the driver of the car that she was in drove into a ditch at Haapavesi, Northern Ostrobothnia, police said.
The victim was 37 years old.
According to the police the 19-year-old man driving the car lost control of the vehicle on a curve along Mieluskyläntie and went into the ditch.
The driver's breath test result showed 1.78 mils per thousand, and that he was driving illegally.
Both the driver and the passenger came from Haapavesi.
The driver is suspected of driving under the influence, compromising road safety, manslaughter and driving the vehicle illegally.
