Former president Martti Ahtisaari said he followed up with sadness the recent debate on multiculturalism, reported the national broadcaster Yle.
According to Ahtisaari, it is self-evident that opposition to multiculturalism will have an effect on Finland’s reputation abroad.
The former president said he considers himself an international citizen.
Ahtisaari said he believed in international and open Finland, and stressed that Finland needs labour from abroad in the coming years due to aging population.
