A man assaulted in a taxi queue in Jyväskylä died in hospital on Sunday, said the Central Finland police department.
The beating occurred in the night between Friday and Saturday in downtown Jyväskylä near the Matkakeskus taxi queue. The police suspect that the situation began with a dispute involving another as-yet-unknown man.
The 46-year-old Hameenlinna fell from a powerful blow and hit his head on the street, receiving a serious brain injury. He died in hospital Sunday evening.
The police arrested a 42-year-old local at the scene. He is being held for aggravated assault and aggravated manslaughter.
The man is suspected of assaulting another person. His injuries were minor.
