The police suspect a number of persons for crimes following the uncovering of drug trafficking ring in Southwest Finland, reported Turun Sanomat, a Finnish language daily.

The police suspect the criminal group United Brotherhood as the mastermind behind the organisation of the drug trafficking, said the report.

At present, the Southwest Finland police are holding five suspects in custody and one of them is a United Brotherhood member.

In all, 12 people had been detained in connection with the case. At least one other suspect has connections with the criminal group, reported the newspaper.

The drug bust in the Turku and Salo region is reported to have involved smuggling and trafficking of 3-4 kilos of amphetamine. The trafficking also involved subutex and doping substances, said the report.

The first decision to remand the suspects was done in early March. The National Bureau of Investigation has also been involved in the investigation of the case.
