FTimes – STT Report, Aug 18

The chair of Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party), Timo Soini said his party is being treated in a more restrictive manner on the Greek issue than its partner in the government, the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party).

Soini, also the foreign minister of the country, made the comments in reference to the third Greek bailout.

“The Centre Party voted against all bailouts in four years. No one asked what the Centre (Party) was doing,” Soini told Yle in the Morning Breakfast programme (Ykkösaamu).

Soini also expressed his hope that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) participates in Greek bailout in order to gain necessary expertise on the implementation of the terms and conditions of the loan programme.

IMF’s involvement would possibly necessitate the scaling down of the Greek debts.

Soini refused to comment further on the debt relief.

The government will consider together the policy, Soini said.

Soini pointed out during the interview that the deteriorating situation in Greece would worsen the refugee situation in the EU.

Probably the EU countries would still resolve during the current parliamentary term how the refugee influx should be distributed within the EU, he said.
