Stubb’s residence vandalised
FTimes-Xinhua-STT Report, Aug 19

The home of Finance Minister and chairman of the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) Alexander Stubb was vandalised late Monday night, said the Finnish government in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.

The statement said the intruders entered the yard of Stubb’s home and broke the windows. A police investigation is now underway.

Two outer windows of a private residence and nine windows of a kindergarten were broken, according to a police statement.

According to the Finnish national broadcaster Yle, Stubb, also a former prime minister of the country, was not at home when the incident happened. His family reported the incident to the police. The family members were not hurt.

Stubb, who was attending the party’s summer meeting of ministers in Rovaniemi, northern Finland, told Yle that he would not take any action himself.

“We cannot under any circumstances allow fear to take control,” Stubb was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the police have released CCTV footage of persons suspected of Monday night’s vandalism at the home of Finance Minister Alexander Stubb.

Two masked suspects can be seen in the surveillance camera footage. The Western Uusimaa police have appealed for witnesses.
