The police intensified surveillance on over-speeding during an operation conducted on Monday.
Over 2,800 incidents of over-speeding were recorded through automatic surveillance which would result to penalties.
Automatic surveillance was carried out with the help of automatic poles and vehicle units.
Over 900 drivers were penalised for over-speeding, the majority of which were personal car drivers.
The penalised group included 54 motorcycle riders, 21 lorry drivers and four bus drivers.
Advance notification of the inspection did not seem to have a significant impact on the driving speeds.
The operation was part of a wider European traffic police inspection programme.
