More than one in every seven Finns believes the intellectual ability of black Africans is weaker than that of Western Caucasians, found a survey commissioned by Finnish language weekly magazine, Suomen Kuvalehti.

Nearly as many as were in agreement with the statement that White Europeans should be prevented from mixing with dark skinned race in order to prevent the extinction of the European natives.

About a fifth of Finns still believe in the existence of different human races. According to Suomen Kuvalehti, over half in this one-fifth group responded to the questions posed in a clearly racist way.

Racism can be defined as discrimination and classification of people on the basis of their skin colour or ethnic background.

The survey was conducted by Taloustutkimus via an online panel in the beginning of August. A thousand people took part in the survey whose margin of error was +/-1.5 percent.
