Well-known lawyer Heikki Lampela will have to answer for criminal charges. On Monday, Lampela received two indictments for assault and illegal threats.
The second of the charges refers to an incident in May. Lampela quarrelled violently with his the then girlfriend in a cabin on an island off Espoo, which resulted in a criminal investigation.
The charge for assault refers to an incident in November of last year.
Prosecutor Tapio Mäkinen does not wish to discuss the charges before the trial begins.
However, he says that in the whole case, there is only one suspect and one victim.
Lampela said to STT that he would not ever comment on the issue again. According to him, mediations with his former girlfriend are going well.
The bar association can impose sanctions, if a lawyer is convicted of a crime committed while working. The mildest sanction is a reprimand and being expelled from the lawyers’ union.
