The first company-run reception centre for adult asylum seekers opened in Otaniemi district of Espoo.
 
The reception was ready to welcome the first hundred asylum seekers on Wednesday evening.
 
The asylum centre’s space may increase to accommodate 300-400 persons within a week.
 
The Finnish Immigration Service set up the asylum centre on the facilities of a former emergency services college.
 
Luona Oy, a company specialised in healthcare and medical services production, will run the operations of the asylum centre.
 
The City of Espoo, the Finnish Immigration Service and Luona agreed together on the security arrangement of the centre, among other things.
