Prime Minister Juha Sipilä on Thursday said the upcoming extraordinary meeting of European Union leaders could postpone implementation of the government’s package on working life.

Sipilä tweeted that the possible postponement gives labour market organisations time to agree on alternatives to the otherwise perceived harsh measures proposed by the government.

Sipilä hopes for alternative measures to come from the labour market organisations by next Wednesday.

The government is expected to present its proposal before parliament as it embarks on preparations for reforms. But now it seems there may be changes in plans due to the refugee crisis extraordinary meeting.
