The Finnish Defence Forces will participate in an international crisis management exercise called Trident Juncture 15 and led by NATO in October and November.

The Finnish Defence Forces in a release said a fighter detachment and special forces with combined strength of 160 persons will take part in the exercise.

Trident Juncture 2015 consists of a Command Post Exercise 3-16 October, 2015 and of a LIVEX phase 19 October-6 November and Finland will take part in both the exercises, said the release.

According to the Defence Forces, the live exercise will see the participation of six Air Force F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets and with special forces.  The Finnish Air Force's total strength in the exercise is 80 persons.

The Finnish special forces will be from Utti Jaeger Regiment and the Navy’s Coastal Brigade.  The total strength of Finnish special forces in the exercise will be 60-70 persons.

The Finnish contingent taking part in the exercise will mainly operate in Portugal. In addition, Finland will place staff officers in headquarters in Spain, Germany, Canada and Norway, said the release.

According to the Defence Forces, Trident Juncture 15 is NATO's most important exercise in 2015. The exercise will bring together forces from both NATO member countries and from Partnership for Peace countries, in total 30 countries. The host nations of the exercise will be Spain, Portugal and Italy.
