The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Ilkka Kanerva brought to the fore the situation in Crimea when he attended a security policy seminar organised by the State Duma and the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

Kanerva said he criticised Russia’s aggression in his speech, the takeover of Crimea as well as the destabilisation of eastern Ukraine.

“The situation in Crimea starting with the carrying out of illegal occupation is something which the international community should not forget. I brought to the fore the situation in Ukraine in the light of facts which caused uproar in the audience,” Kanerva said in a statement.

Kanerva also discussed the situation in Crimea together with the Chairman of the State Duma, Sergei Naryhskin who presented Kanerva with an invitation to Crimea.

About three hundred parliamentarians attended the Moscow seminar.
