A hundred asylum seekers wanted to show their gratitude to Finnish people for access to the country.

“First of all, we thank the government of Finland that we were able to come here. Secondly, we thank the Finns, who have helped us a lot. They have come to Kastelli and brought clothes and other things,” said an asylum seeker from Iraq, Yasser Younis.

According to him, the Finns are very friendly and welcoming to the asylum seekers.

“We especially want to express our gratitude to the Kastelli staff, for their meals and nurses.”

Sick refugees had access to nurses, according to Younis, and, if necessary, fast access to doctors.

He did not find the food reprehensible, only that it was prepared differently from his home country.

On Saturday, Younis praised, as one example, the chicken sauce, which came with a side dish of barley, cucumber, tomato and grated carrot.

“The food was really good,” he said.

During the demonstration, refugees carried banners, one of which read: We want to respect the laws of Finland and get along with everyone. P.S. The food is okay.

There are around 270 asylum seekers at Kastelli, mostly young men.
