Adoption of children from abroad has dropped in the country by more than half since 2005.

The number of cases of adoption throughout the world is also on the decline.

According to Save the Children Finland, there are many factors behind the phenomenon. In most cases, for instance, what the applicants wish and the situation of the children do not meet.

Many countries, such as China, manage to invest in healthy children under the age of three, the group which adopters mostly look out for.

On the other hand, there is a shortage of applicants who would wish to have children of playing age, set of siblings as well as children with special needs.
