The news of the accident was confirmed to the news agency STT by the minister’s special adviser.
The minister’s right wrist was fractured during the accident and, as a result, her hand will remain plastered for the next five weeks.
Toivakka revealed about the accident on her Facebook page.
The accident happened in the Kazakh capital, Astana, at around noon on Wednesday.
A vehicle speeding from the oncoming lane hit the Kazakh state car which Toivakka was riding in.
The minister was seating in the back seat of the car and got support from the front seat backrests.
Toivakka’s hand was plastered at the Helsinki Töölö hospital on Wednesday evening.
