The government on Thursday reappointed Harri Pursiainen (57) as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Transport and Communications for a five year term beginning June 1, 2016.
Pursiainen's re-appointment is based, among other things, on his excellent expertise on state administration and the Ministry's administrative branch, and his international and management experiences, according to a press release of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
He has significant merits in developing the Finnish Government, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications and its administrative branch.
Having a Master of Laws degree, Pursiainen has worked at the Ministry of Transport and Communications since 1984.
He became Director-General of the Ministry's Communications Policy Department in 2001 and Permanent Secretary in 2006.
Before joining the Ministry, he worked with the Finnish Road Administration.
