FTimes – STT Report, Oct 17

National Police Commissioner Seppo Kolehmainen will not face prosecution in connection with the allegation of breach of official position during his tenure as the rector of Police University College.

The prosecutor on Friday also dropped the allegations brought against the current rector at the college, Kimmo Himberg and two other officials.

The allegation brought against Kolehmainen was related to workplace discrimination and bullying which took place at the college.

The alleged irregularities took place in the period between November 2010 and January 2013 when Kolehmainen worked as the rector at the college and later at the National Police Board.

The aggrieved party is a retired policeman who is reported to have experienced discrimination and workplace bullying at the college.

The prosecutor, Mika Mäkinen found no evidence supporting the allegation against Kolehmainen brought by a police sergeant regarding application for a post.

There was also no evidence against Kolehmainen that he had illegally or improperly attempted to influence the selection process.

According to the prosecutor, the obligation to cooperate law was not violated, because issues related to tasks at works are in the first instance discussed with the boss.

Kolehmainen was appointed the national police commissioner in June this year.
