The popularity of Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party), the second largest component of three-party coalition government, has dropped, found a survey commissioned by Finnish language daily Helsingin Sanomat.

The survey reflected that less than half of those who voted for the party during the spring general election would vote for the party now.

The popularity of the Finns Party has dropped by 4.2 percentage points in a month. According to the survey, the support for the party currently stands at 11.4 percent.

The national broadcaster Yle in its survey a couple of weeks ago showed Finns Party popularity had dropped to 10.7 percent.

The party in both survey is ranked fifth in the political parties’ popularity list.

According to the Helsingin Sanomat survey, the ruling Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) is the most popular in the country with 22.2 percent of the support.

The main opposition party, Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland) has leaped to the second place with 18.3 percent of the support posting a 3.3 percent within a month.

The Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) sits in third position with 17.7 percent.

The SDP has gained most from the slump of the Finns Party.

The Vihreä liitto (Green League) with 11.5 percent is fourth in list with just a slight advantage over fifth placed Finns Party.

The Vasemmistoliitto popularity also improved slightly to 8.3 percent.

The survey was conducted by TNS Gallup in September and October with over 2,400 responding to the survey.
