The Foreign Service has announced vacancies for fixed per employment of six experts in international business at certain Embassies and Consulates General of Finland for a period of three years as of the beginning of next year, according to a press release of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The experts would be posted to Singapore, Ottawa, Los Angeles/Palo Alto, New York and at the Honorary Consulate of Finland in Istanbul, which would be subordinate to the

Embassy of Finland in Ankara, said the release issued on October 30.

“The main task of these experts will be to build up Team Finland services in the host countries and back up the export efforts of Finnish companies and assist them in their operations in the target market, working together with the Team Finland network and other local actors,” explains Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Lenita Toivakka.

Attracting foreign investment in Finland and innovation cooperation are also part of the job description, according to the minister.

Drawing up the job descriptions, the entire recruiting process as well as mentoring will take place in close cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the Finpro and Tekes organisations.

“This is an interesting experiment in developing new practices across administrative boundaries to promote Finland’s economic interests,” points out Toivakka.

The current recruitments are part of the Government’s key objective of improving Finland’s competitiveness, and they also pursue the goal of enhancing Team Finland operations.

The Team Finland network has the mission to foster the success of Finland and Finnish companies worldwide.

It brings together government-funded actors engaged in promoting the internationalisation of companies, foreign investment in Finland and Finland’s country image, pooling the services offered by these actors.
