Greenpeace activist Sini Saarela climbed a ship near Helsinki on Sunday. The coal transporting vessel Alppila arrived in Salmisaari, Helsinki on Sunday from Russia.
At the scene were Greenpeace kayaks and the Finnish Border Guard boats. Greenpeace is trying to pressure the City of Helsinki to abandon the combustion of coal.
According to Greenpeace, the vessel had to change its course, after which Saarela climbed the vessel and went aboard.
Matti-Mikael Koskinen, executive director of ESL Shipping Ltd, the company which owns Alppila did not comment on the incident when reached by the news agency STT.
The city is set to will decide the future of power plants in the near future.
