The 19-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday on charge of killing a 16-year-old girl at Joutseno has confessed that he beat the girl resulting into her death.
He, however, does not believe his actions to be murder, police said on Monday.
The girl was found dead in Lappeenranta's Joutseno on Saturday. Police arrested the suspect on the same day.
The victim and suspect are both from Joutseno and are known to each other through a network of friends.
The homicide was carried out near the Rientalo youth center, which had hosted a Halloween party earlier that evening.
Police investigation revealed that neither the suspect, nor the victim participated in the celebration.
The police, however, did not disclose the exact time, place and the motive of the murder.
A forensic autopsy of the body was performed on Monday, after her identity was confirmed.
The suspect's trial will begin tomorrow (Wednesday).
