FTimes-Xinhua Report, Nov 16

One person died in an apartment building fire on Sunday morning in Kristiinankaupunki, western Finland, local media reported.

Rescue department said that the two-story building located in a fairly densely populated area was badly damaged in the fierce fire. The building has several apartments, garages and a retail space.

One person was found dead in one of the apartments. Rescue workers were not sure whether the person is a resident of the apartment building.

Four residents living in the building were evacuated, and they were not injured.

The Ostrobothnia Rescue Department issued a danger bulletin, saying that smoke cloud was spreading towards the inner city with the wind. It advised the local residents to close all doors, windows and ventilators, as there were a lot of detached houses, terraced houses and apartment buildings in the area.

The fire extinguishing work is continuing, as the fire has not been fully brought under control.

The cause of the fire is under police investigation.
