Tue, 01 Dec, 2015 01:49:10 AM 1 held for Pargas nightclub murder FTimes-STT Report, Dec 1
The foreign man reportedly killed in front of a nightclub in Pargas in Southwest Finland late Saturday night was a Polish national, the police said on Monday.
One person is suspected of manslaughter in connection with the incident, said the investigating officer, Jan Storing of the Southwest Finland police.
According to the police, the murder took place during a scuffle between a number of Polish nationals and Finnish nationals, resulting in a massive bar brawl outside the nightclub Bar Frendi late Saturday night.
According to Storing, it was likely that the cause of death is asphyxiation, a suspicion confirmed after the autopsy and coroner’s statement.
“I suspect someone took a hold of [the Polish man’s] throat and simply did not let go,” said Storing.
The police interrogated two suspects. One of them has been released.
